April Newsletter Offers Tools to Teach CTE Remotely

The April issue of the Edu2Mfg newsletter focuses on the innovative ways instructors and industry partners in the Sacramento region, California and the nation are working together to continue educating our future workforce outside of the usual classrooms and labs. This is particularly challenging for hands-on advanced manufacturing courses and other Career Technical Education (CTE) classes.

Through video conference calls, called Shop Talk, teachers are sharing their experiences and methods. Industry representatives are retooling their offerings and making online simulations and tools freely available.

Makers and manufacturers are rising to the call to produce equipment needed by those in the health care field.

March 19 Update How can Edu2Mfg Help you?

In the March 19,2020 email update, Advanced Manufacturing North Region announced some updated information to help instructors who are working remotely. A Shop Talk call is slated for Thursday March 26, Jeff Briggs, Regional Director is asking for input and a list of remote teaching videos was started.

March Edu2Mfg Newsletter

The March 2020 newsletter for the Advanced Manufacturing North Region for California Community Colleges includes a summary of many upcoming events and resources for industry partners and instructors. Read the Edu2Mfg newsletter distributed March 6.

Sierra College announced advisory committee meetings for both Mechatronics and Advanced Manufacturing in March at the Rocklin campus. SVMI will be hosting the State of Manufacturing in Folsom.

Teachers of advanced manufacturing skills in the Sacramento region are benefiting from hands-on training with other teachers being held at the Rocklin High School engineering and manufacturing lab as well as monthly “Shop Talk” phone calls.

The February conference for counselors that focused on Career Technical Education provided to be a valuable resource. There are several other events and resources included in the March Edu2Mfg newsletter.
